  • Black Friday is maintaining its appeal to younger consumers — particularly members of Gen Z and millennials, according to AT&T data — as older shoppers say they will be waiting until closer to Christmas to do most of their holiday sales shopping. “Black Friday is always such a big deal, and the pricing and the offers and advertising that’s done during that time is probably what would draw Gen Z, especially things done on social media,” said Angela Rutherford, AT&T’s VP of mid-market sales (via CNBC).
  • Green Wednesday is trending in popularity in advance of Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday, with cannabis retailers saying that the day prior to Thanksgiving represents their second-busiest sales day behind April 20. “Green Wednesday is not a real holiday. But if you think about it, you’re traveling home to see your family, extended family is visiting and everyone is taking a walk with their cousin. And what do you think you’re doing on that walk?” asked Jennifer Bartholomeo, a general manager of the Travel Agency, a New York dispensary chain (via CNN Business).
  • HP indicated that it would be slashing between 4,000 and 6,000 jobs by the end of 2028 as it joins a slew of other companies looking to streamline operations with the assistance of artificial intelligence. This figure could represent up to 10% of the company’s current workforce. “Our FY25 results reinforce the power of our portfolio and the strength of our team in a dynamic environment.
